Everyone loves a good gift, but in the current world a) people don't care about quality gifts and b) trying to choose most budget friendly options. There is nothing wrong with this statement statement, but speaking of quality gifts: I always want to make sure that the gift that I gave is going to be used and/or eaten.
Making your own gifts is a great thing: it can be very budget friendly and you are at the higher chance of making either something special or something that this person will actually use!
I have a great DIY gift recipe that my friends love - bath fizzies!
Recipe: Martha Stewart has a recipe that has gone viral however I prefer my recipe alterations.
For a batch of 24 mini fizzies or 12 midi fizzies you will need:
Baking soda - 2 cups
Corn starch - 1/4 cup
Citric acid - 2 cups
Essential oils - sweet orange, lemongrass, lavender and tea tree
Food or cosmetics coloring
Cupcake baking pan (mini 24 or midi 12)
Spritz bottle
Sand paper
Remarks: be careful what essential oils you use, Some of them can be photosensitive, meaning that they react badly on your skin after exposed to sun. Although there is a very small amount of oils used in each bath fizzie and diluted in a huge bath it won't take effect on your skin, it is better be safe than sorry. Usually those are oils of any citrus origin, however sweet orange oil is safe to use.
Mix all dry ingredients together in a bowl. If chunks appear - sift them through,
Pour 1/2 cup of mixture into a separate bowl. Slightly spritz it with water. While spritzing - mix the ingredient with hands as fast as possible to prevent fizzing and bubbling. Once damp and able to form bigger chunks add essential oil.
Choose your scents: I love the mixture of lavender, lemongrass and sweet orange. It smells so wonderful and dreamy in the bathroom. Add 2 drops of lavender, 1 drop of lemongrass and 3-4 drops of sweet orange oil. Add food/cosmetics coloring if desired at this point. Mix well. Firmly pack mixture into small baking molds. Allow mixture to set for 1-2 hours. Pop out your fizzies carefully, make sure they don't break.
Use sand paper to remove bottom imperfections of bath fizzies for an immaculate finish of this product
Time: 1,5 - 2 hours. Depending on the amount and complexity (if you add multiple scents, colors and shapes). Can be made in advance, which is awesome for those unexpected party invitations - awesome! Bath fizzies stay fresh from 6 months up to a year,
Gift wrap: use mini organza bags and ribbon to pack each fizzie individually for bigger sizes or opt for a smaller box (see below)
Occasion: great for baby showers, birthdays, house warming gifts, can be awesome for Christmas in the shape of snowflakes, can be great for Easter if used Easter egg like colors. So many options!
